“Wanting to numb out from unpleasant feelings, thoughts, and emotions is understandable and normal. The question is whether this short-term solution is helping or harming you in the long-term.”
– Logan Bennett, LCSW, LCDC
Substance Abuse: Your best frenemy.
Substances probably started out as your go-to coping strategy.
They were there when life got heavy, when feelings got overwhelming, or when you just needed to numb out.
But now? They’ve turned into the thing you’re coping with.
Maybe you’ve tried to quit (or thought about it) but stopped because the idea of giving it up feels impossible—or because you’re not even sure you want to stop.
How do you WANT to feel?
Lighter. Freer. More in control.
Like your life isn’t being f*cking hijacked by that bottomless box of Bota giving you the side-eye from the kitchen counter.
Therapy is about helping you figure out what you want, and what steps we can take to get there–whether that’s cutting back, quitting altogether, or just getting curious about the role substances play in your life.
I’ve been where you are.
I know how complicated this is—how substances can feel like both the problem and the solution at the same time.
My own recovery taught me that it takes courage to even think about making a change, let alone talk about it with someone else.
My role is to create a space where we can explore what’s going on and look at what change could feel like for you.
Is this for you?
→ You feel stuck in a cycle of use, guilt, and more use—and you’re over it.
→ You want to change your relationship with substances but aren’t sure how or where to start.
→ You need someone who understands the gray areas—not just “use” or “don’t use.”
→ You’re looking for support without pressure or judgment.
