Therapy can give you support, validation, coping skills, and strategies to change your perspective and your behaviors. It can give you greater peace of mind and help you tolerate difficult feelings and situations. It can give you a “corrective emotional experience:” your therapist creates a safe, non-judgmental space for you to express yourself authentically and may “get” you in a way that no one else has. When this happens, it is extremely powerful and transformative.
Therapy cannot change other people or external circumstances. Therapists provide psychoeducation, feedback, and guidance, but they don’t give advice or answers. If you’re new to therapy, or are exploring unprocessed trauma, therapy may make you feel a bit worse before you feel better.
I can’t tell you how long it will take for you to feel better. But, generally, the more you put into therapy, the more you’ll get out of it.

After reading through this site and having an initial conversation, many people have a good sense if I am the right therapist for them. A strong relationship between therapist and client is the best predictor of a successful outcome in therapy. A good relationship with anyone -- including your therapist -- depends in large part on chemistry. It also depends on transparency. If we work together, I encourage you to let me know if something I say rubs you the wrong way, or if I do anything to let you down. Disappointment is inevitable in any relationship (and in life!); in therapy, the goal is to work through it together.

Sessions are 50 minutes. For therapy to be the most effective, I meet with clients on a weekly basis, and in some cases, every other week.

I am an out of network provider. This means that you will pay in full for each session, and I will provide a monthly Superbill for you to submit to your insurance carrier. Most plans will reimburse 60-80% after meeting an out of network deductible.
You may want to ask your insurer the following questions:
Do I have out of network mental health benefits?
Does my policy cover 50 minute sessions? (CPT code 90834-95)
If yes, what is the reimbursement percentage, and does this percentage apply to a maximum amount?
Are there any deductibles or co-pays for which I am responsible?
What is the process for submitting claims?

Please use the contact form to set up a free consultation. During this time, you will have the opportunity to share what brings you to therapy, and I can answer any questions you have. If it feels like a good fit, we can move forward with a first session.

Consultations are perfect for determining if we will be a good fit! Sometimes it may seem like you don’t fit within our scope, but after talking about it, you do! This will be discussed and clarified during your free 15-minute consultation. If we’re not a good fit to work together, we’ll kindly refer you to another kick-ass therapist that we trust.

Your therapist will go over this with you, too, but here’s an overview:
We use a HIPAA-secure system that is similar to FaceTime or Skype. It’s called Simple Practice (for Apple and Android users).
To use it on a smartphone or iPad, you’ll need to download an app (just once). If using a laptop or computer, no download is needed.
Before each session, you are emailed a link and then... BAM! Click, and you’re ready to therapize your life.

If you late cancel (less than 24 hours notice) or no show to any session, you will be charged the full fee.
